CF&P Statement on the Passing of David Koch
(Washington, D.C., Friday, August 23, 2019) As we mourn David Koch’s passing, we also celebrate a man whose life left an indelible mark on millions of Americans. A seminal figure in the free market movement, David’s financial, organizational, and moral support during the movement’s early years paved the way for the explosion of pro free market organizations in the coming decades. It is hard to imagine that our movement would be as vibrant today if it were not for the leadership provided by David and his brother Charles in those early years.
A true visionary, David’s work building free market institutions marked a turning point in the Left’s dominance of grassroots advocacy. He helped spawn a generation of grassroots conservatives mobilized in support of liberty, providing a critical bulwark against the Left.
We will greatly miss David, and always remember him as a pioneer in the fight for limited government and freedom. We can say with confidence that the United States is a better place thanks to David’s generosity, leadership and vision, and boundless energy.
