The Center for Freedom & Prosperity has joined a coalition of state and national organizations in calling on Washington to pass a permanent extension of the Internet Tax Moratorium. Signed by over 40 organization’s, the coalition letter urges Congress to continue what has been policy since 1998: an internet access tax moratorium. Americans are overtaxed already, and do not need to be taxed yet again just to enjoy the marvels of modern communication.
Without action, the moratorium is set to expire on Nov. 1. It has been renewed in the past on a bipartisan basis, but today is being held for ransom in the Senate as leverage to pass the Orwellian-named Marketplace Fairness Act, which would wreak havoc on the economy by allowing states to impose taxes outside their borders.
Politicians have their hands in enough private cookie jars already. Enough is enough with trying to tax the internet.
