New CF&P Video Exposes the
Cost of a Bloated Bureaucracy

(Washington, D.C., Tuesday, June 1, 2010) A new video released today by the Center for Freedom and Prosperity Foundation (CF&P) explores the cost of excessive bureaucracy. Entitled “There Are too Many Bureaucrats and They Are Paid too Much,” the mini-documentary explains that compensation for government workers is far above private sector levels, resulting in a heavy burden on taxpayers.

“To help control the cost of government, pay levels should be dramatically lowered and the number of bureaucrats should be reduced,” said Andrew Quinlan, President of the Center for Freedom and Prosperity Foundation.

“Some statists talk about two Americas of rich and poor, but the real dividing line is between insiders and outsiders of government,” said the video’s narrator Dan Mitchell of the Cato Institute.  “Six of America’s ten richest communities are suburbs of Washington in large part because of government workers,” he continued.

Executive Summary

America has too many bureaucrats and they are dramatically overpaid. This mini-documentary uses government data to show how federal, state, and local governments are in fiscal trouble in part because of excessive pay for a bloated civil service.

CF&P Foundation has also released more than three-dozen mini-documentaries since 2007. These videos include Tax Competition Primer, VAT-Hidden Tax, Global Flat Tax Revolution, Cutting the U.S. Corporate Income Tax, Promoting Prosperity, Obama’s So-Called Stimulus, Obama’s Deferral Proposal, Case Against Class-Warfare Tax Policy, President Obama’s Dishonest Demagoguery on Tax Havens, a three part series on the Benefits of Tax Havens and a another three-part series on the Laffer Curve.
