CF&P Announces Free Market Video Contest
(Washington, D.C., Thursday, October 14, 2010) The Center for Freedom and Prosperity Foundation is announcing a free market video contest, with a grand prize of $1,000 available for the video that best promotes free markets, limited government, and individual liberty. CF&P specifically encourages students to participate, but entries from individuals of any age will be accepted.
“The Center for Freedom and Prosperity Foundation has two highly successful video series spreading the free market message,” said CF&P President Andrew Quinlan, “but we want to see what great ideas the next generation of liberty-minded individuals can generate.” He added, “What better way to highlight the power of markets than through a competitive contest?”
The goal for contest entries should be to illustrate the importance of free markets in a clever or amusing way. Videos can deal with big-picture concepts, or address specific issues. Entries that can successfully address economic concepts that are not generally understood by the public are particularly encouraged, as are productions that can be used to educate students.
Videos are encouraged to be less than 3 minutes long, and will be judged by Dan Mitchell of the Cato Institute, Veronique de Rugy of the Mercatus Center, and Richard Rahn of the Institute for Global Economic Growth, as well as special guest judges from academia, media and Capitol Hill.
Entrants wishing to participate should upload their videos to YouTube, and then send the video link to CF&P. The deadline for submissions is December 15th, 2010, shortly after which the judges will award prizes.
